About Read the Bible 2025

“Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” - Spurgeon

Introduction

We’re changing things up this year! I’m convinced last years reading plan was too intense for a diverse group. So I’m looking forward to changing it up to the RMM plan, which I have found recently is profitable for children as well.

Overview

I’m inviting us to read the Bible together this year. In this fresh plan, you may “drop in and drop out” of the different discussions. The more people that participate the merrier. While the reading plan is less chapters, it is daily. Also, less chapters to read has potential for more application to be shared. We will be free to apply the Word of God to:
  • Different stages of life
  • Different ministries
  • Different seasons of faith
  • Different contexts in which we live
  • And more!

The Reading Plan

This year, our reading plan was planned out by Robert Murray M’Cheyne. You can view the plan here (For members, I have gifted all of you a paper version of the plan. If you are not a CBC member, I still have extra paper versions in my office.) This year in 2024, if you can read 4 chapters per day, you will read:
  • The Old Testament, once
  • The New Testament, twice
  • Psalms, twice

PRO Tips for Bible Survey

  • Put off sin and pray first (1 Peter 2:1)
  • Read an introduction to the particular book, in your study Bible, or other resource.
  • Read with a pen in your hand, or something to take notes
    • Underline sentences that stick out to you
    • Circle words that capture your attention
    • Identify a mark that you will use to indicate what texts you want to look at again
    • Write questions, and mark sentences that are not clear
  • Talk about your observations with someone
